Dutch American Heritage Day Celebration
The Irish have St. Patrick’s Day, the Italians have Columbus Day and the Dutch have November 16 as Dutch American Heritage Day. Every year in mid-November the Dutch American Heritage Foundation (DAHEF) celebrates this momentous occasion in American history by honoring one or two Americans of Dutch ancestry at a fundraising gala dinner-dance.
This year, on Saturday November 18, 2006, we will be honoring J.C. Huizenga, a very successful industrialist, entrepreneur and education reformer. JC, as he is known, is the chairman of several businesses, including manufacturing, investment and real estate enterprises. He is also the founder and chairman of National Heritage Academies, a charter school management company. He and his wife Laura live in East Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The event will again be at the California Club in downtown Los Angeles. Further details of the event will be forthcoming in due course.
SAVE THE DATE – SATURDAY NOVEMBER 18
Please call Dick van Hoepen at 818-865-9431, or e-mail him at dvanhoe@msn.com if you are not currently on the mailing list to receive an invitation to this once-in-a-lifetime event.
From its fund raising DAHEF supports NESSO, the Netherlands Social Services Organization, the Summer Concerts for talented Dutch music students and the Dutch Studies Program at UCLA.
