Steven Boume (1988) has attended the Schola Cantorum in ’s-Hertogenbosch. At the age of seven, he had his first cello lesson from Frank van den Berg at the local music school, where he also received piano lessons from Peter Zimmerman. He has had cello lessons from Monique Heidema since 2001. He has played cello with the Euregio Youth Orchestra for a number of years.
Steven was awarded prizes at the Inter-Provinciaal Muziekconcours, the national finals of the SJMN Competition and at the Princess Christina Concours in 2001.
Steven plays a cello built by E. van Tongeren from Haarlem, which was made available to him by the Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument (Personal Musical Instruments Foundation). His bow was made available by the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds (National Musical Instruments Trust).
