Daniël Kool


Daniel KoolDaniël Kool (1986) started playing the piano when he was five years old.  He was admitted to the Dutch “Young Talent Group” in 1997 and was admitted to the preparatory classes at the Amsterdam Conservatory.  He has taken many classes in the Netherlands and abroad.


In 1995, when he was nine years old, he won his first competition in the Netherlands.  In 2000 he received second place at the Princess Christina Concourse competition andthe Gaudeamus Award for the best interpretation of a contemporary composition.


In 2001 he won, as the youngest finalist, the third prize in the YPF Concours.  In 2003 he was a finalist in the Princess Christina Concours and traveled to New York to perform in a concert in Carnegie Hall.


Daniël regularly plays as a soloist and with chamber music ensembles.  He also played with the Netherlands Youth String Orchestra and with the Helicon Orchestra. 


He has studied with Tamara Poddiubbnaya, Victor Chouchkov and Almudena Cano, with Malcom Bilson and Bart van Oort (forte piano) and with Nellie Ben Or (Alexander technique) in London.
